Consumer Reviews
I purchased my grill on (Saturday) 7 Aug 10, and I was so proud to get the grill on sale (I believed they had been all sold out, given that this was a restricted production model). I brought it property and assembled the grill the very same day. I hooked up the Coleman gas and checked it for leeks. None had been located, so though the grill was heating up, I went indoors to get some hot dogs to cook on it. I went back outside the grill and heard a popping sound like popcorn popping. I opened up the grill and the exterior coating was flaking off. I was honestly disappointed that I could not even cook something on a brand new grill. I known as Coleman Company on Monday morning, and the grates are on back order, so I have no notion when I can use the grill. It was funny the operator never asked me what model I had, and she currently knew it was the Paul Jr. Style model. I wanted this item, for the reason that it does have superior quality components (pull out side plates, chrome nobs, chrome hooks, greater wheels, and a great temperature gauge). I nonetheless feel this will be a decent item, and at least I did get beneficial client service, devoid of any kind of a hassle about getting new grades. I've had a fine experience in the past with Coleman customer service, so this was one other purpose why I purchased this grill.
I just got the new grades in from Coleman at this time (16 Aug ten), and they have a substantially thicker coating to the grates, practically a powder coating to the cast iron. I will start employing the new grill grates this weekend, and update my assessment.
I'd read a lot of the evaluations and some of the issues with the grill that people today had knowledgeable. I went ahead and bought it given all of the concerns. Set up is a snap. As far as the concern over the grill material popping when you happen to be "conditioning" the grill per the instructions.... I did it a small differently than they mentioned. I lit both burners, set on high, closed the best and watched the temp gauge. When it got to 200, I opened the leading for a few seconds and let it cool down. Closed the lid and let it heat up to 300 and opened it once more. Repeated this at 100 degree increments until it got up to 500 degrees and then shut it off, letting it cool with the best closed. I do not know if I would have had complications otherwise, but it worked perfectly and every little thing has been fine. The latch problem is a Especially effortless $2 repair. I agree that the closing latch is cheesy. They certainly should have accomplished anything unique with it. That stated, I went to Ace Hdwe, picked up a spring that was about two inches lengthy, rather fine wire, quarter inch diameter with the hook style ends. Incredibly light pressure....just enough to keep the latch in the closed position. Drill a hole 1/8" or much less in the lifting manage, just across from the latch (to the ideal, at the same level as the latch). Place one particular finish of the spring about the latch and wind it about so it stays on, stretch the other finish into the hole that you drilled (just far sufficient away to maintain a pretty slight amount of pressure on the latch and the spring). It stays in place perfectly and no much more worries about the leading coming open throughout transport, etc. It literally took me 5 minutes and now I just pull the latch more than each time I open and close the lid. This was so effortless that I am a tiny shocked that Coleman did not design it in. Wish I could post a image so give a visual on it for clarity (a image would be worth WAY even more than all those words above!). The grill cooks like a champ and I think it cleans up effortlessly also. In all this is a wonderful grill and for the value it really is truly great.
